Mildly annoyed by the sudden slew of posts complaining about queer coming of age stories without any self awareness over the fact that the poster is not the target audience. "I don't want to see another movie about a teenage boy discovering his sexuality and navigating his identity and experiencing high school romance" yes babe that's because those movies are targeted at 15 yead olds and you are 28.

post soj datz makes me CRAAAAZYYYYY to think about.. bc these two kids!!! And maybe three sometimes but lowkey rayfa is notttt attached to him like that and has a whole different support system so it's even more awkward. but he helped raise yuty and aj!! he knows and loves them.... but then -it's been so many years. a lot of time has passed since he helped care for yuty and even more for aj and beyond that ... theyre both adults now! so i like to think about the datz who wants to Help, by god he wants to help so badly, but what position is he in to help at all, you know? and it's like ... how much of his help do they even want or need? THEY'RE ADULTS!!!

like he finds himself at night asking dhurke for guidance (in a mental way not a channeling way) bc god knows he needs it ... but in a sense it's way easier to help two toddlers than it is two midlate 20s yr olds with Jobs... like. you cant put a fussy yuty to bed anymore bc he's the prince regent and can kick you out of the palace for that ,.. and also bc they have agency or whatever. :p

i mean its not impossible and datz isn't the kind of guy, i dont think, to really let it weigh him down...like if he oversteps or gets annoying, Oh Well, he's datz, he's annoying. if its all he can do to field incoming cases or run and grab lunch and make sure apollo eats that day, then at least its anything! if he can give yuty a hug and be entirely unsure as to whether that hug helped or hurt or neither or everything then like, at least there is a yuty to hug and at least he's there to do it. oh well!!

this is like, entirely a speculative thought, but datz's character has such Fixer vibes to me. (which lowkey everyone in ace attorney who isnt a culprit is a Fixer tm so like, yeah, but anyway) ... he's such a Helper. and in the face of his Immense Grief with dhurke .. a large part of why he needs to make sure aj and yuty are doing well is directly related to that grief. your sons are well and i miss you.. etc. he needs to Helpppp or else what is he even doing here!! And also he just loves those kids. but like. without dhurke there'd be no relation. he would not have met these kids you know? it's like how u said datz is the glue for that family... cus that's so REAL, but then i think some nights if datz is real low, he's like. these kids don't Need Me. they need dhurke and dhurke's not here and i'm not him.. like datz is the glue but glue can only hold for so long. do they even want him to hold on like that? but i don't think he's capable of sulking like that for too long anyway. the revolution didnt last so long by succumbing to the bad thoughts :-)

thinking abt that shift between younger childhood "silly uncle datz who let them play with the Big Knives so long as they promised not to tell dhurke (and then got in trouble bc dhurke found out)" vs being older and recognizing that the man who has no obligation to stick around after dhurke's death is still cutting apple slices for a mid-work snack and wont let you stay in your head about The Horrors all day without at least *trying* to interfere ... its like .... AAARGHH!!! THE DATZ!!! HE CARES ABT THESE DAMN KIDS!!!!!

can u imagine being Datz post-SOJ. suddenly now YOURE the single father with two kids and trauma just like Dhurke SDHBDS he can handle himself, but damn. it's probably hard on him, especially when he wants to be the rock for Apollo and Yuta. but Datz has a lot of people who love him, so i think he'll be okay
